Hurricane 2023 Results

Another joint effort with Romancing the Stones, Hurricane 2023 was the Falling Stars’ second Old School constructed event, and it was once again a huge success. First of all, a huge thanks to all of you for coming out to Rudyard’s to play some Old School Magic with us this weekend! Lots of old cardboard (as well as little pieces of proxied paper) were slung over the course of the weekend. We could not have had the successful event that we had without you showing up to enjoy some old cardboard in the company of folks that love doing the same thing. A special shout-out to those that travelled from Austin, San Antonio, New Jersey, Sin City, and Oklahoma! The turnout for Old School (41 players!) was fantastic, and the turnout for vintage was also a very healthy 24 players.

Thanks to everyone that donated to the prize pool and the raffles that we did on Saturday! We gave away an obscene amount of Magic-related memorabilia (most of it to Ty) and everyone walked away with something to remember the weekend. Thanks to the generous support of our attendees, we raised $2350 for the Houston Food Bank!

Special thanks to everyone else that put forth effort to make sure we all had a great time.

And of course, congrats to our 2023 Summer Hurricane Old School Champion, Justin Droba! Attending his first Old School tournament ever, Justin brought his own personal take on a familiar deck, and he was undefeated all day. You can read his tournament report here.
